Happy Islamic New Year, Marhaban Ya Muharram 1443H

“When my servants ask you concerning me, (tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every suppliant when he calls on me.” [Quran 2:186]

My dear sisters in Islam, and especially those who are close to me, the Wirdora Lovers,We are welcoming the new hijri year, 1st Muharram 1443 Hijri this 10th August 2021. Despite any hardship that we are facing today, let us remind ourselves never to lose hope. Instead, let us be content with what has been bestowed upon us, and never stop believing things will change for better, Insyaallah.

Just like many other new years that come-and-go, let us make this new year a special one for us.

Let us try our best to renew our shahadah, strengthen our imaan and improve our amal. Let us pray that we will always be on the right path with His Guidance and may Allah help us and fulfill our doa for betterment, duniya akhirah.

New Year Resolution

In the spirit of welcoming the new hijrah year, I’m putting a challenge to myself and sharing it with my fellow Wirdora Lovers on the new year resolution, so that we could all try to implement them in our to-do list. So, let’s challenge ourselves for betterment to:

1. Be more thankful and give charity

The pandemic is taking its toll on us. Instead of negativity, let us see the blessings behind it and be more thankful. Some people are tested with no income, others are tested with sickness and not leaving behind those who are tested with the loss of their loved ones. Everything has been written for us.

Alhamdulillah, one thing that makes us stronger in these tested times is our iman. Have you thank Allah enough for we are still allowed to breathe and do tawbah? Have you thank Allah enough for the kids that has been testing our patience throughout the PdPR? Have you thank Allah for the food that is always there for us during the mealtime? If you haven’t let us thank Allah now and then. Alhamdulillah.

Do charity, give back to the needy as that is one way of showing how thankful and grateful we are for the rezeki.

Hold on to what the Quran says:

“Those who spend their wealth in Allah’s cause are like grains of corn which produce seven ears, each bearing a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies (His reward) for whom He wills.” [Quran 2:261]

2. Be more patient and control your anger

With the lockdown and people spending more time on social media, the hatred, false news, gossipings and everything negative are widely spread, just in a click of time. With all the issues that we are facing, and the extra burden being locked at home with the kids and all, we get ticked off easily.

This new year, let us learn to be more patient. Let us bear in mind to teach ourselves to control our anger before we say or do anything that we might regret it.

Remember: “Be patient, indeed Allah is with the patient.” [Quran 8:46]

Try the tips from the hadith on how we can control our anger:

“If one of you got angry while standing then sits down, or if sitting down then lay down. If anger does not go away then do Wudu” (Abu Dawood).

3. Read more Quran

A Book (the Quran) which We have sent down to you, full of blessings that they may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may receive admonition.” [Quran 38:29]

Nowadays, we hardly have time for ourselves. Like it or not, just make time for ourselves. Discipline our own self to read the Quran on a daily basis. If we couldn’t read the whole chapter, make it a page a day. If one page is too much, reduce it to half a page. Or if time is really not on our side, just an ayat a day should do good. It’s not the quantity, it’s the commitment we are making to ourselves.

4. Improve our Solah

We are well-trained and comfortable with the solat routine. This new year, let makes a resolution to improve our solat in terms of quality. Understand our solat. Learn the meaning of every word that we recite in solat. Solat as early as possible, don’t procrastinate. Do more sunnah prayers and make a lot and lots of doa.

“And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, or [lying] on your sides. But when you become secure, re-establish [regular] prayer. Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.” [Quran 4:103]

Shouldn’t we feel lucky to be ask to solat at least 5 times a day? Allah has makes sure that we pray and ask His guidance 5 times a day, and may we be guided in the right path, aamiiiin.

5. Find Allah’s love

Let us put Allah as the center of our lives. That is what we should be doing the moment we were born and welcomed to this world. Allah is The One and He is The Only One for any being. Let us strengthen our aqidah and may we earn Allah’s redha and love more than anything in this world and eternity.

“And We sent not before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that ‘There is no deity except Me, so worship Me.’” [Quran 21:25]
